Art, for me, is an endless exploration combining traditional mediums with emotional and psychological content of subject matter. My exploration takes many forms ranging from portraiture to landscape. I render imagery academically from life as well as from my imagination. I find that both approaches fulfill the my need to create. The traditional mediums of oil paint, graphite, charcoal, conte and clay provide me with endless challenges and vocabulary. As a painter I am most attracted to times of day that express change and to portraits that attempt to capture someone expressing their humanity. I also am drawn to landscapes that evoke a sense of biological memory. It's my hope that these pieces evoke an individual's interpretation, enabling them to create their own experience, feeling, and meaning of my work. |
